Jake is a chartered physicist with over 17 years’ experience in the nuclear industry, spanning both the civil and defence sectors in the UK and the US.
As Chief Engineer for Novel Nuclear at Rolls-Royce Jake leads the development programmes for new nuclear systems with applications here on Earth and in Space.
His prior experience was focused around the naval nuclear programme in technical and programme leadership roles covering technology development, system design and in-service fleet safety. Jake spent the majority of his early career in the technical areas of reactor physics and thermal hydraulic and was a qualified operator of the UK naval programme zero power test reactor. He studied physics at the University of Manchester and has since undertaken a second Masters in Nuclear Science and Technology, also at the University of Manchester.
He lives in Derbyshire in the UK with his wife and two dogs.
